The same character, on every page
Once Books turns a few photos into a personalised children’s book starring your child. We lock their face and hair before a single page is drawn, so the child on page 16 is the child on page one — whatever the story dresses them in.

My Very First Day at SchoolWhy most AI books fall apart
Ask a chatbot for page four and the bear from page three is gone — new face, new fur, new proportions. Image models are stateless: each page is a fresh guess. Once Books fixes that by never letting the model guess — see how it compares to other personalised books.
How it works
From a handful of photos to a finished, consistent book in four steps — and here’s what happens to your child’s photo.
- 1
Add your hero
Upload a few photos of your child. We build a locked Character Sheet — a written description plus your approved reference images — that every page is generated against.
- 2
Choose a story and a style
Pick a tale and one art style. The style is frozen onto the whole book, so page one and page sixteen belong to the same illustrator.
- 3
We illustrate, consistently
Each page is generated against your locked references, not from scratch — so the character stays recognisable across all 16 pages instead of drifting.
- 4
Approve, print or share
Reorder pages, regenerate any one you want to change, then export a print-ready PDF to order a copy or share a private read-along link.
Built to look like one book
Everything here exists to hold a single child, in a single style, across every page.
A consistency engine, not a prompt
Image models are stateless. We re-supply your locked character description and reference images on every generation, so the hero is the same child on every page.
One art style, book-wide
The style is chosen once and frozen onto the book. No jarring switch from watercolour to 3D render halfway through the story.
16 pages in about 6 minutes
Generation runs in parallel on the queue, so a whole book is minutes away, not an afternoon of re-rolling a chatbot.
You approve every face
Nothing is final until you say so. Regenerate any page, swap a scene, or nudge the character sheet — the rest of the book stays put.
Print-ready by default
Export a high-resolution PDF sized for print, ready to gift or send to a print service — not just a screen-only preview.
Careful with a child’s likeness
Photos are used to build the book and nothing else, inputs and outputs are moderated, and share links are private and unguessable unless you make a book public.
Flip through a sample story
Turn the pages: the hero stays recognisable and the art style holds, cover to back. This is a preview mock — your book stars your child.

Questions parents ask
- How do you keep the character looking the same on every page?
- We lock a Character Sheet — a written description plus your approved reference images — and re-supply it to the illustrator on every single page. The model never works from memory, because image models have none; it works from your references each time.
- Is it really one art style across the whole book?
- Yes. You choose a style once and it is frozen onto the book as a style profile that every page inherits. Page one and page sixteen are rendered to the same look, not re-invented per page.
- How long does a book take?
- A 16-page book takes about 6 minutes. Pages are generated in parallel, and you can start reviewing the early ones while the rest finish.
- What happens to my child’s photos — is it safe?
- Photos are used only to build your book’s character references. Inputs and generated pages are moderated for safety, and finished books are private by default — a share link is unguessable and only becomes public if you choose to make it so.
- Can I edit or regenerate pages I don’t like?
- Any page can be regenerated on its own without disturbing the rest of the book, and you can reorder pages or adjust the story before you export. Nothing is final until you approve it.
- Can I get a printed copy?
- Every book exports as a high-resolution, print-ready PDF sized for printing, so you can order a physical copy or gift it. You can also share a private read-along link online.
